Perhaps the most beautiful part of this visit is to live the legend of how Rozafa castle was built to never fall, and after whom it was named. ! Inside the castle museum are artifacts that date back 4000 years, around the same time it is believed the castle Rozafa was built. A time that this land was ruled by Illyrians (early Albanians). It has since fallen many times in front of Roman Emperors and Ottoman invasion and as recently as the first world war. The castle stands on a hilltop, looking down on Shkodra City, and the valleys below. Inside the castle is built in layers that show how the destruction and building has evolved over thousands of years.
